Nate Lopez Trio
jazz / blues / funk
Nate Lopez has always been surrounded by music. Born in 1979 in California, his mother often sang and played piano, always encouraging creativity and open-mindedness. Nate took piano lessons in his youth until becoming frustrated with his piano teacher's rigidity, at which point Nate quit the piano lessons and started studying on his own. Nate's Uncle Ricardo on his father's side was an incredible Mexican folk guitarist, exposing Nate to two handed tapping, hammer-ons, and many other styles of guitar. When Ricardo died in 1992, he left his guitar to Nate's father, Marcus, who then gave it to Nate. The guitar immediately made sense to Nate, and as soon as he began to experiment with it he realized he was playing bass lines on it, at which point he got a bass guitar that he played for many years.

CHANGO B
Since their self titled debut album release in 2004, Sebastopol's Sol Horizon has blossomed, becoming one of the most popular and forward thinking bands of its genre. Sol has had the opportunity to share the stage with legendary acts such as Morgan Heritage, The Meditations, Eek-A-Mouse, Yami Bolo, and the J.G.B. Band - to name a few. The release of their latest album, "First Light", and recent tours of California and Hawaii, as well as collaborations with England's reggae star Pato Banton should erase any doubt that Sol Horizon is on the rise.

Bass Science (LA/Tokyo)
iNi
Bass Science's debut EP Transmissions From Planet Dub fuses dubstep, IDM, glitch hop and dub into a fresh new sound that is simultaneously super filthy and extremely clean. Italian-born, Tokyo-based dub master MattB (RaNDom) and Chicago-born, LA-based audiovisual luminary Steve Nalepa conduct their sonic experiments on different continents, mutating files and sending them back and forth across the web. The resulting soundclash melds serious low end, deep pocket rhythms, crunchy distortion, glitchy mouth percussion, blips, bleeps and a heavy dose of dub delay. Call it glitchstep, call it dubhop…whatever you call their Frankenstein baby, it has escaped from the lab and is about to wreak havoc on dancefloors everywhere. |

UBERZONE vs
BASSBIN TWINS
break beat / electro / breaks
Uberzone is the brainchild of southern California native Q (named after the "gizmo" -loving James Bond character). Like his namesake, Q is a die-hard collector of all things electronic, and has been collecting electronic-music gear since his early teens. His early singles, "Botz" and "The Freaks", were critically acclaimed club tracks that established Q as one of the leading American producers of breakbeat music. His remixes of Sarah McLachlan, The Crystal Method and BT also established him as one of the biggest names in the American dance scene. Spin Magazine named Uberzone as one of the six producers to create "the biggest beats ever."
Bassbin Twins were born in Los Angeles, moved to Belgium, and are now based in San Francisco. Started in 1992 simply because of a "love for the beats", they've recorded for Skint, Belgian Breaks, Southern Fried, and others, as well as their own numerous one off indpendent releases. A live Bassbin Twins show is a remix of all their favorite music. Their innovative tunes range from breaks to house to drum 'n bass. Anything and everything can get woven into the mix. Eclectic in nature, the connection lies in the unique rub they put on each track.

kBRANDOW
alt / rock / exp
kBRANDOW emerged from the creative abundance in the mind of band leader/producer Damion Gallegos. He began putting it down in the studio long before finding all the right players. Ever prolific Damion has found time to pursue arranging kB along side his many other projects, and has had no trouble finding talent to assemble a group to bring this vision to fruition. The usual changes and distractions along the way have developed kB into a power group which is becoming the definitive new sound of the SF Bay Area. kB’s fusion of music styles and power players make their music intellectual and accessible at the same time. This is a perfect mix for SF area audiences which are savvy and require some meat to their music. Let’s meet the bay area veterans that have helped kB become the new SF sound.

The Steve Pile Band
folk / rock / alt
Steve Pile has been called a "musical hybrid who plays a mean slide guitar at one turn and tears off a sweet pop melody the next"(Albuquerque Journal). Perhaps its the wanderlust that took his career from Portland, OR to Austin, TX, and back to the Bay Area, and all the flavors soaked up along the way. Maybe its the sense of musical adventure that brought him to Gambia, (W. Africa) to study kora and record an album using solar panels and a laptop. Or is it simply that he constantly surrounds himself with the best musicians he can find. Either way, a Steve Pile Band show is sure to keep your feet moving and your ears open.

Music listeners are blown away by JFJO's instrumental creativity, musical risk, and near telepathy on stage.
