By 2006, Still Time was playing to a regularly sold out house at San Luis Obispo's most popular music venue, Downtown Brewing Co., and began touring across the West Coast.

SHAWNA
(el circo, OAK)

shawna's passion for music began in early childhood and throughout while attending the winnipeg music folk festival in manitoba, canada, where she grew up. there, she was exposed to musical genius from all over the planet, which greatly refined her her ear for the subtleties and origins of all types of music. it wasn't until the age of 18 that she took any interest in electronic music, and began pursuing mostly world fusion, "down tempo", and ambient. always searching for that same quality of depth in the electronic realm, she has since collected a vast diversity from hip hop/dub/dubstep/dancehall/world fusion to idm/house/disco/tech/electro. she's been dj-ing "out" since 1999. always eclectic, her varied tastes are brought to the dance floor where she aims to find something for everyone in every set, as well as to attend to as many of the emotional realms from sexy deep to uplifting spirited bliss.

EVEREST
http://everestband.com
Often descriptions of bands fall into the equation of “this well known group plus this other established act plus a few adjectives.” But some bands defy this shorthand, offering something so pure & true that its roots aren't apparent. Everest is this sort, taking us down to foundational rock truths with an easy glide and expansive vision. While one can draw some clues from the folks they’ve toured with – Neil Young, Wilco, My Morning Jacket – ultimately Everest is simply a great rock ‘n’ roll band in the classic, open-minded mold, something boldly apparent on their sophomore release, On Approach (arriving May 11th) on Warner Bros. Records / Vapor Records).
Formed in Los Angeles in 2007, Everest is comprised of Russell Pollard (vocals, guitar, drums, lyricist), Jason Soda (guitar, keys, vocals), Joel Graves (guitar, keys, vocals), Elijah Thomson (bass, vocals) and Davey Latter (drums, percussion). Their 2008 debut, Ghost Notes, drew strong critical marks and comparisons to primo Topanga Canyon, California country rock. However, none of this quite prepares one for On Approach, which finds the group in a full-tilt creative charge.

STEVE PILE BAND
CD RELEASE PARTY
www.stevepile.com www.facebook.com/stevepileband www.myspace.com/stevepileband
With a guitar on his back, Bay Area native Steve Pile has traveled the world, from Alaska to Austin to Africa, “distilling his own hybrid of blues, rock and melodic African guitar music all topped off with a little cowboy swagger.”
His first album, Overnight, was recorded in Portland, Oregon in 2002. Shortly thereafter, he relocated to Austin, Texas, where he recorded his 2nd album, Home For Right Now, with a host of Austin heavy-weights, including Brad Houser (New Bohemians, Critters Buggin’) and Stephen Doster (Nancy Griffith, Will Sexton) as producer. The album framed his songs with an eclectic Americana sound.
Various tours have seen him sharing the stage with the likes of Richard Thompson, Peter Case, Jackie Greene, and even a double bill with Ramblin' Jack Elliott. He also traveled to Gambia in 2008 to record his Kora(an African harp) teacher, using solar panels and a laptop. The album, Konteh Kunda, was international released this year and has received glowing reviews. Steve's songs have been featured in two short films, notably “Crossing” by Riad Galayini, which starred James Morrison (24, Jarhead) and garnered many indie film awards. He also contributed to a short mock-spaghetti western entitled “Enter the Moustache.”
Now back in the San Francisco Bay Area, Steve’s sound has shifted from the Americana he nurtured in Austin to a more electric cross-cultural stew of styles. The new album, Got It Right (as the Steve Pile Band), will be released this September. Come join Steve, Brian, James and a host of very special guests as they celebrate it’s release at the HOPMONK!

REVEREND PEYTON's BIG DAM BAND

www.bigdamnband.com
There aren’t a lot of Warped Tour vets who can claim proficiency in the use of washboards, bottleneck slides and five-gallon buckets. Most didn’t spend their teens playing along to Charlie Patton and Bukka White albums. And just about none are fronted by a commissioned member of the Honorary Order of Kentucky Colonels.
But the Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band, who appeared for two weeks on the 2009 Warped Tour and will be on the entire 2010 tour, are all that and more. With wild sing-a-longs and flaming washboards, their live shows have been converting skeptics left and right.
Now, with the May 25 release of “The Wages,” the soulful, swinging country-blues trio proves they’re more than just a world class live band. Their second album for SideOneDummy Records, it was produced by Paul Mahern (Zero Boys, John Mellencamp) and recorded in the band’s Big Damn Tradition: live in the studio with no overdubs on honest-to-goodness analog tape.

NON STOP BANGRA

Featured on the third Saturday of every month, Non Stop Bhangra (NSB) is a unique experience that celebrates the beautiful and vibrant spirit of Bhangra, a traditional Punjabi folk music and dance.
Imagine a scene from a Bollywood movie smack in the middle of a thumping nightclub---swirling colors, the rhythm of pounding feet, and the relentless energy of brilliant beats-that’s Non Stop Bhangra. Non Stop Bhangra is a non-stop party, featuring dance lessons with Dholrhythms Dance Company, followed by dance performances, live music sets, visuals, live painting, and DJs spinning an eclectic mix of bhangra, hip hop, reggae, and electronica.
FREE Bhangra lessons from 10-11pm !!

Open Mic Night
(Hosted by Bill DeCarli)
http://www.myspace.com/BillDeCarli
sign ups begin 7:30pm
music 8:30pm
No matter your age, it’s time to break out that old guitar, banjo, trombone or whatever else tickles your funny bone, and head on down to HopMonk Tavern’s open mic night. The open mic, hosted by our very own Bill DeCarli, has been gaining some serious momentum with all kinds of incredible musicians coming out of the woodwork. These nights are made up of local and traveling musicians from all over the country and even the world.
There are many acts that started at the open mic which are now playing gigs in the beer garden, opening for national touring bands and even headlining their own shows at HopMonk. There is also a weekly feature, selected from a previous open mic, which plays an extended set at prime time. There is even a chance you might be invited to join Bill, to perform live on KSRO, where he is a regular guest on The Drive with Steve Jaxon.
All levels of musicians are welcome! Almost every week there are folks are who performing in front of an audience for the first time, as well as the seasoned professional who is getting ready to go back out on the road and wants to try out new material. It is a testing ground, a meeting place, a community where like minded musicians meet and draw inspiration.
But the open mic is not just for musicians... There have been comedians, beat boxers, jugglers, magicians, a Hula Hooper and even an audience. Yes, an audience. It is a lot of fun, even if you are not a performer, to come down sip on a fresh craft beer and enjoy some locally grown, organic entertainment.
